We have three games under our belt. It appears we've already played a majority of the harder teams in the league already, but that doesn't mean that we should take the rest of our schedule lightly. We play a double header this week, with one game at 9 am and the next at 11 am. The first game we play is against Rampage. They have the same record as we do, but they have good quick players. We need to stay vigilant and keep improving as we have, and I think we can definitely beat them. Our second game this week is against G-Men. We took them lightly last season and they won. We did scrimmage them and for sure held our own. We have the talent to beat them as well. Get plenty of rest this week and carb up Saturday night, it's going to be a long Sunday. Stay healthy. We can put our record to 3-2 after this weekend. It is possible, I have faith in you guys. Let's have a good time playing football this weekend guys.

So we sit at 1-1. I don't think our schedule is really all that tough for the remainder of the season except for a couple of games, one of which is this weekend. We play the Rough Riders, who according to people who have played against them, are a "run first" team. We have watched them over the last couple of weeks to see how they play and they do, in fact, like the run. Jon and I have come up with a special man zone defense specifically for this game. It's pretty much a hybrid of the cover three and the stagger d that I sent out last week. I have delivered it to all of your emails, check it out. Our game this weekend is at 10 am at field #10. That is the field right next to where we have been playing. Arrive early as always, this week especially, to go over this new defense and so everyone knows where they will be and their responsibilities. We will be short a few guys this week, so everyone's going to need to step it up. Let's have fun this weekend!
Zach Well, week two is upon us. I hope you have all reviewed the defensive formations and blitz packages I emailed out. Learn them. They are simple and basic, and offer us a little variation so that we can adjust to different offenses. I think one of the reasons we lost last week is that we didn't adjust to what the Browns were doing. They exploited the gap in the middle, which is not uncommon in the defensive shell we used on Sunday. I want everyone to get comfortable with the zones that you'll be covering in each of the positions, so that we can avoid any lapses in coverage. Remember, our schedule has changed this week. We no longer have a double header, and our game was moved to 10 am at field #11. Everyone show up at least a 45 minutes early. We need to make sure we're all properly warmed up and we need to discuss the new defensive strategy. And most importantly, let's have a good time this weekend!
Zach Well, our first game resulted in a disappointing loss. I want to first apologize for losing my cool during the game. I am very aware that I need to work on channeling my intensity and emotions a bit better on the field. All that I ask in return, is that if you have something to say about a problem you see, rather than just point out a problem, have a solution. Pointing out what people are doing wrong without providing a solution is pointless and just gets everyone riled up. Remember, we're a team, and we need to act like it from here on out. I will be emailing everyone some information about some defensive schemes this week, so that everyone is aware of their coverage in each formation. I think we looked really good the first half of the first game, but the Browns made some adjustments and we didn't. If you ask me, our schedule changing may be a blessing in disguise. We were scheduled to play the Rough Riders, who were the first team to beat Blitz since we joined the league. This change in the schedule has allowed us a little time to prepare and see how they play, and what we'll need to do to give them a run. I'm positive that we have a great group of athletes this season, and we have what it takes to be a top contender this Fall. Our one game this week is scheduled for 10 am. Show up early to warm up. Same shit as every week. I appreciate the people who do that, and it definitely reflects in your play. Thanks again.
Zach So, I have a sneaking suspicion that our game will be canceled tomorrow due to all the rain today and probably throughout the evening. Everyone needs to be on call tomorrow morning, as I'll send out a text message once I hear from the weather hotline about whether or not our game is on tomorrow. A big thank you to all who made it out to our scrimmage this afternoon. Mayhem looked good today with a few new additions to the team that I think will be valuable. Everyone keep Benny in their thoughts, please. I will let everyone know how he's doing as more information is made available to me. Again, our game is scheduled for 10 am, so arrive early to warm up. I'm being so adamant about it because we have new guys and I want everyone to get used to each other. I have included a map of the playing fields at Robert Easton Regional Park for all the new guys that haven't been there before. The address for the field is:
12819 W. Coal Mine Ave., Littleton, CO 80127 To the veterans, you know where we play. Everyone have a good night and hopefully we'll see you all in the morning! -Zach We are going to be playing a scrimmage against the G-Men from our Foothills league. They have also arranged for a third team to play, so there's the possibility of a three way. I know Jon likes three ways with dudes. The scrimmage will be held at Rocky Mountain Lake Park, located at 46th and Hooker Street in North Denver. The scrimmage will start at 4 pm. I have included a map below, but if you still get lost even with me showing you on a map where it's at, call me. Our official season opener is on Sunday at 10 am at the same field where we played in the summer. If you're new addition to the team, I will post a map and address to the game field on this website tomorrow night. Arrive early on Sunday. None of this five to ten minute warming up shit. That brings the team down, and you'll more than likely hurt yourself. BRING MONEY! I'M NOT PAYING FOR YOU ALL TO PLAY FOOTBALL!
Well, with a week off for everyone, we begin our Fall flag season. Our sophomore season looks to see improvement, as we've made some good acquisitions in the off week. We will be missing some of the familiar faces, as well as seeing new ones. Foothills has officially released the schedule today. I have updated the Schedule & Scores section of the website to reflect the new season, so check out the links at the top of the page. Our first game is this Sunday, September 13 at 10:00 am. If you're a new addition to the team, wear a blue shirt, preferably something along the lines of Carolina Blue, as I don't quite yet have enough jerseys for everyone. Hopefully we can pull of a win against the Browns, so we can happily watch the Broncos... Arrive to the game as early as possible, we'd like to get everyone warmed up properly. I know I tell everyone that every week, and we get the people who show up five minutes before the game. Please try to arrive at least a half hour early. It helps the team. EVERYBODY NEEDS TO PAY ME $35. I NEED MONEY TO COVER THE DUES, I'M NOT COVERING IT MYSELF.
Peace, Zach |
