Spring ball is here too. We are registered for the South Suburban league at the Sports Dome off of Arapahoe and Peoria. Games are on Sunday nights, beginning THIS SUNDAY. I will have the final schedule from South Suburban in a couple of days. So, essentially, we will be playing football a couple of nights a week for a few weeks. There's only a handful of you guys that won't be returning for the spring season, so this applies to most of you. I FRONTED THE MONEY TO GET THE TEAM REGISTERED, THEREFORE, I NEED YOU ALL TO BE PREPARED TO PAY YOUR $50 SHARE OF THE TEAM FEES THIS SUNDAY.
Although we lost our asses last week, we played a good game against a good team. TIU is one of the top ranked teams in the state and has the stingiest defense in the league, and we held our own. I am actually really impressed with how we handled them defensively. Offensively, we seem to be having a hard time finding our rhythym early on in the game. I'm not sure what the cause may be, and I'm not too concerned about it. I have faith that Jesse is a great leader and has the ability to get the offense rallied when needed. We have a bye on Wednesday this week. Enjoy the Wednesday off!

It looks like the bye week games worked out well for us. We have remained in fourth place, which would be the last available seed to make the playoffs. Our game this week is a big one, we play Toss It Up, and they appear to have the best defense in the league. I've played with some of the guys on this team, and their QB and LB's are wicked fast. We will definitely have to make some adjustments to counter these guys. I have faith that as long as we play well as a team, and stick to our assignments, we can beat this team.
IT'S TIME TO START GETTING THINGS WORKED OUT FOR SPRING BALL. IT LOOKS LIKE OUR MOST VIABLE OPTION WILL BE SOUTH SUBURBAN'S DOME OFF OF ARAPAHOE AND PEORIA, WITH GAMES ON SUNDAY NIGHTS BEGINNING MARCH 6. THE FEES WILL BE $45 FOR PLAYING IN THIS LEAGUE. THERE IS THE POTENTIAL THAT WE COULD REDUCE THOSE FEES, I'LL HAVE MORE INFO THIS COMING WEDNESDAY. LET'S START GETTING OUR MONEY IN, AS IT REQUIRES A $400 DEPOSIT TO HOLD OUR PLACE AND REGISTRATION ENDS ON FEBRUARY 28. Our game this Wednesday is at 6:55 PM, arrive early to warm up and also so we can all discuss our strategy to beat these guys. See you all then! Well, last night's game was a rough one. We really didn't do too bad. There was some bad luck mixed in with a little sloppy play. Shit happens. Defensively, we cannot be leaving our assignments. If you need to, communicate with others on field about someone leaving your zone or if there is a weakness that needs to be addressed. There were a few instances in which some zones were left wide open and there were some significant plays made in those areas.
All we need to do now is win out the season. That's not going to be an easy task, seeing as how we have a couple more good teams left to play in the upcoming weeks, but I know we have the talent to do it. Let's stay focused and dilligent about not taking teams lightly. Next Wednesday is a bye week for us, so enjoy the week off Rest up well, we have a tough game against Toss It Up in two weeks at 6:55 PM. I had a good time, even though we still worked this team over when we had only six guys on the field. I love the shutout, and the point differential will for sure help us if we run into a tie-breaker scenario later in the season. It also made it hard for me to watch our play and make any adjustments, seeing as though this was more of a scrimmage. I like the defensive coverage that we ran, and I think we have the athleticism to pull it off. We're going to keep running it, mixing in different blitzes and all kinds of crazy shit. I think the D is coming around.
It's time to start talking about spring ball here, guys. We have two options, one of which I'm not even sure about. I am looking into one of the options a little more today to get more information. The two options are going to be South Suburban, which is at the Dome off of Arapahoe Road, or I'm looking into an outdoor league, but I'm not sure how well we'd like that until it warms up a bit. I think the Dome may be the direction I'm leaning. The Dome has changed their entry fees, as they are not requiring player fees from each individual player as they have in the past. That is bad ass if you ask me. I'll stay in touch with everyone this week, as registration for the Dome begins Monday and they need a deposit ASAP. Our game this coming Wednesday is at 9:25 PM. Arrive early to warm up, you know how cold it is inside the arena, like the 25 degrees we played in last week. See you all Wednesday! I don't have a whole lot to say about last Wednesday's game. We played like crap. I personally played one of my worst games in recent memory. Oh well, shrug it off, we have another game this Wednesday at 7:45 pm.
The biggest struggle I'm seeing on defense, would be the fact that we're leaving our responsibilities in whatever coverage it is that we're in. I am the biggest offender. I have no excuses, I'm just going to make sure that I am sticking to my coverage responsibilities. I will go over everyone's different responsibility so that we're all on the same page when the game starts. We have to make sure that we're staying in our coverage. I alone blew my zone like three times last week resulting in a big play. We all just need to have faith that we will be helped over the top. See you all on Wednesday at 7.45 pm. So, I finally got the videos and pictures pages operational. I have also updated the Mayhem Facebook page with the same pics, so check it out and become a fan using the link to the right. We've got a fun game in store for us this Wednesday. We play the Knights, who we've beat a couple of times before and who I know we can beat again. Some of you that have played with us for a while will remember some of these guys from other teams we've played, and I'm sure you're ready to show them all how much better we've gotten.
OUR GAME THIS WEDNESDAY IS AT 10:15PM. PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU ARE GOING TO BE UNABLE TO MAKE IT, OTHERWISE, I WILL SEE YOU ALL WEDNESDAY EVENING. ARRIVE EARLY TO WARM UP AND PLEASE BE PREPARED TO PAY ME THE REMAINDER OF YOUR FEES IF YOU HAVEN'T ALREADY. NO PAY NO PLAY, SORRY, THIS SHIT AIN'T FREE. Gentlemen, our schedule has been revised with Foothills. They have extended the season by one week, added another team, and given us another bye week. The whole setup kind of sucks if you ask me, but it is what it is. I updated our website here accordingly. I HAVE COLLECTED PAYMENT FROM A FEW OF YOU ALREADY, BUT WILL NEED TO COLLECT FROM THE REMAINDER OF YOU THIS WEDNESDAY. $45 PLEASE.
On another note, it is my understanding that you are all interested in playing in the South Suburban Dome League that begins on February 27. This means that we will overlap by a few weeks, during which, some of us will be playing two games a week. I hope that you're all still down and just wanted to remind you all that the spring season will be coming up fast. I want everyone to be prepared for that one to come around this time. So, Foothills just released our schedule for our season beginning this Wednesday. Our first game is this Wednesday night at 8:35 pm, at the Indoor Sports Arena at 3608 S Kipling in Denver. See the map below. We've got some good competition in this upcoming season. As a team, I think some of us have played quite a few of these teams in the past. I think it'll be nice to show how things are beginning to come together for us. I ended up going out of town this weekend at the last minute, but Jesse's trying to arrange a practice tomorrow at Rangeview H.S. at 1pm. Let him know at 303-589-4779 if you'll be able to get together for a quick practice before we get back out and start tearing shit up. Enjoy your weekend.
Alright guys, I hope you've enjoyed your time off. Our winter season will begin on January 13, 2011. Based on what everyone told me, it's not going to be an issue for most of you to play on Wednesday nights for a couple of months. The Wednesday night league will also be overlapping the spring season by a few weeks, so we will have games two nights a week for a while.
I'd like to arrange a practice or two in the next couple of weeks. Everyone, please let me know what would work best for you. In talking to some of you, it appears a Sunday morning or afternoon would work best. Let me know. If I haven't already, I'll be sending out a mass text about a practice this week. All that I'm trying to accomplish with a practice is getting everyone back together and in sync after we took a couple of months off. I don't want to go into a new league and be rusty. So, here's the deal. It was our intention to play indoor winter ball at the Sports Dome off Arapahoe. Unfortunately, the league filled up before the deadline. I hadn't registered the team earlier, as I really don't have the funds to spot the team like I have in the past. I am in the hole to this football team somewhere in the hundreds of dollars over the past couple of years, and just couldn't swing it. When I had sent out the numerous requests for everyone to get down on some cheddar, I got two people to pay. Sorry, but it didn't cover the deposit. If you were one of the few guys that have paid me, I am more than happy to get your money back to you until we figure out what we're going to do. The reason it took me so long to put this up, was that I have been going over our alternatives in addition to se
What this means for us it that we have two options here, and I want feedback from all of you. We can play in the indoor league run by Foothills. It starts in mid-December, is fewer games, and it will carry over until February. The big difference is that it is played across town by where we played in Foothills outdoor, and it it Wednesday nights. Option two would be to take a break until South Suburban's spring league starts up in February. I need each one of you to get in touch with me to let me know how you all feel about it. Sorry I dropped the ball and didn't get us registered in time. The guys that have been with us over the past couple of years know that is uncharacteristic of me. I'm usually pretty good about getting everything up and running, but like I mentioned, that just costs me too much money any more. |
